Collaboration with Film & Set Production.
'Manchester Day Parade' This project entailed a collaboration with FTVSD which morphed both set & costume design together, this was beneficial as teamwork shares various perspectives . It is also a great chance to connect with other student and share ideas.
Throughout the module briefing for this project, it was enjoyable finding out our theme which was 'Transport' I found this theme so broad and extensive and there was plenty to explore with from materials, to location & profession's.
Our group decided it would be great to incorporate 80's commuter designs in with the set, as we had an 80's inspired tram
With this in mind I took into consideration iconic fashion trends including shell suits, double denim & materials such as spandex & lycra. I also noticed the bright & pastel colour palettes that were included in the 80's garments, so I took all of these elements into consideration with my designs.
When prepping for character designs, I think it is just important to focus on the character attributes from hair colour & figure to gender and height.
With this in mind, I was prompted to design for the females as I feel it is more experimental & relates to historical context such as female empowerment.
When designing for the characters pictured above, I wanted to include different races as this reflects upon BLM & ethnic minorities uniting together.
Due to our theme being transport we decided it would be best to stick along the professions route from police officers & fire brigade, to cabin crew and sailors.
